HGTV Smart Home 2019: Take the Tour + Enter for Your Chance to Win!

TIFFANY BROOKS: Welcome
to the Lone Star state and the location of this year’s
stunning HGTV Smart Home 2019. I am so excited to give you
a tour of this amazing house, so let’s get to it– starting right here
in the great room. This dramatic space features
a leather-clad fireplace for a little Texas touch. There’s plenty of seating
here, and the whole room flows right into the kitchen. There’s an informal
eating area with seating that is easy to move
where you might need it. In the working part
of the kitchen, oversize hexagon on tile
backsplash adds drama. Next door to the kitchen
is the light field library. This intimate spot is perfect
for curling up with a book. And around the corner
is the master suite. I love how sexy and
dramatic this room is. The attached master bathroom
continues this theme, and is totally loaded with tech. The master closet has
custom cabinetry for storing absolutely everything. And just past the great
room is the media room. Couches and recliners
are staggered on rises for a real theater setting. Around the corner is a
bright and private study. In the dining room, I went
full drama with black walls and lots of gold touches. Now, onto the guest wind. Starting with the bedroom
that has a subtle Texas theme. There’s also a kid’s room that
connects through a stylish Jack and Jill bathroom
to a fun play room that works for kids of any age. And that’s the whole house. It’s a contemporary family style
home, ready for entertaining.

The house looks lovely from the outside, but the interior is absolutely way to decorated, it's too dramatic VERY BOLD. " Contemporary family home ready for entertaining" not contemporary at all, great job for putting In all the effort, but really this is just way over the top and it looks really bad ๐Ÿ˜ช

what a shitty design. where are the "smart" and tech features that this title of construction boast? the library is right off the kitchen and family/living room…..ahhh thats the worst spot for a home library if you want to focus on a book in peace&silence. GARBAGE. man your suburban architech/developer can build a better home in a cookie cutter fashion than HGTV did.

Love that HGTV gives homes away every year. The design this year I am not crazy about. The master bedroom needs a lighter color on the walls and the media room needs darker seating.

Firstly, I have a few issues with the floor plan. Why does it appear to have a second floor when it doesn't? What is the need of that gallery in the rear of the living room? Why is the dishwasher in the butler's pantry where there is no sink? Now, on to the decorating issues. Why move the breakfast table to the living room? Why not make the breakfast room the place to eat (you could build banquette seating where the book cases are), use the dining room for the library (it would be quieter there and any kids could do homework there) and this would allow more space in the living room which is already a part of the kitchen. The play room doesn't look like any place a kid could actually play (kids can be messy). It looks too formal. And I agree with another poster, way too decorated. That church pew should not be part of that breakfast area. Even kids aren't going to want to crawl in and out of the tight space around those bulky arms of the pew. I know HGTV wants to appear to be the style setter (which is fine) but don't do weird stuff that won't work in our homes just so you can "look" like you are edgy. Just give us good design. It's just that simple.

My boyfriend and I are middle school and highschool sweethearts, now in our young 20's were still very much in love. Life hasn't been too sweet to us, we fight together as a team and we always look at the bright side of things. We dream of living in a house like this and starting our own family. We live pay check to pay check to afford the small apartment we have, but we're very grateful we have what we do. I've entered for a chance to win in hopes of a new beginning and a new lifestyle. We're both very adventurous and this would be the most amazing one by far!

Fingers crossed! Hope who ever wins has the chance of new beginnings, an awesome new life full of new adventures and memories! This home is beautiful. โค

In the home sneek peek video, she mentioned the theme is gothic, which explains alot about the design. Also, Tom's guide and the local Dallas/Ft. worth news had more info on the home's tech Check it out:

As someone who lives in the dfw metroplex this is a great location but itโ€™s not much of Texas style. The exterior looks like typical Texas traditional home but the inside does not go with it at all. The style here in Texas is typically modern and or rustic, sometimes antique in some mansions but never have I seen a Texan decorate their interior goth. Iโ€™ve been inside of homes of Coppell, Plano, Allen, Irving,Las Colinas Highland Park, University Park,Garland,Rowlett,Colleyville,Dallas,Fort Worth,ROANOKE,Aliannce airport area,Haslet, Grapevine,Carrollton, McKinney,Terrell,HEB etc etc havenโ€™t met a single person who has their interior in this theme. This house may appeal to people outside of the state of Texas but could be conflicting to Texans. Donโ€™t get me wrong I like the style but I feel it doesnโ€™t really go with the style of Texas homes it gives me more a feel of the northeast.

The exterior is Gorgeous but the interior is trash. It looks like they took a McMansion out of a tract and destroyed the interior by making it black and white. The house looks like an ugly zebra on the interior

All these colors are great for a person of color. Not White People. LOL. Sorry if that sounds racist but I hate the dark colors. They are depressing. I'm white and I like light color walls and tiles. Hope a person of color wins this house. Otherwise it's going to get a make over ASAP. LOL

    Nice.
Not the best interior design from your homes this far but still gorgeous.๐Ÿ˜ƒ
So ..Taxes on the property would be close to $600,000-$700,000.
    Prize money is $100,000.
Was hoping the home would have more "smart" appliances etc. Seems to be that utilities would still be average for a home that size. Was looking for smart features with light switches, kitchen appliances, bathroom gadgets, panels etc.
The colors are nice, artwork, not so much. Abstract would've been better. Faces, pictures and things are to personable to appeal to everyone.
Kitchen is too bland. Love the tiles though. Stools are not a good choice. Not comfortable and places limitations on the guests. Not too smart. Think of the elderly and/or disabled.
Also, Straight kitchen islands give off a cold and sterile vibe. Kitchens should have inviting and relaxing vibes.
Master bedroom should be larger in space. Really go Texas with a larger TV wall mounted. Comfortable stretch sofas and a larger bed .. Master bath should have been larger. Bench inside, double square shower heads and smart gadgets.
Outside was my favorite. Missed the mark on the furniture again. Larger deck, sitting area and furniture. Landscaping should include more flowers and plants with large leaves. It's Texas GO BIG! A pool area.
    Where's the game grill?, LoL.
Would've loved to have seen more of the Mercedes.
Overall I give the home 6 out of 10. It's gorgeous but so many missed opportunities.
Lastly, I heard that HGTV has strict policies for canidate selection. I can overstand criminal background checks and etc but to discriminate based on income is kind of elitist to me. A prize should be just that.
And the designer saying on live television that she chooses from those who've entered everyday is not fair as well.
Sometimes people have signal issues, loading issues, busy days etc.
It should be random choosing and as long as you've entered once.

Would you guys consider doing an HGTV Smart Tiny Home with a Fuel Efficient Vehicle?
Just a thought considering todays economy and financial uncertainties.
Would make maintaining the costs of the wins more realistic for the everyday person.
